Intels Next Gen High performance cpus code named Ivy Bridge-E are just around the corner. Top tier Ivy Bridge-E parts will have up 6 cores(12 threads) with 15MB L3 cache. The chip will also feature PCI-Express gen 3.0 support and a quad channel 256-bit DDR3 integrated memory controller with native support for DDR3-1866. All new Ivy Bridge cpus will run on existing socket LG2011 but a BIOS update will be required. Ivy Bridge parts should launch i and around the first week in September.
